Summary/Objective
The Field Service Operator I is an entry-level member of the Field Operations Team responsible for collecting detailed data on utility poles across the state of Texas. Based in College Station, Texas, this position requires weekly travel from Monday to Thursday (all expenses paid), with weekends off. The role involves measuring poles, photographing their condition, capturing GPS coordinates, and documenting information for engineering assessments. Field Service Operators must work safely in varying weather conditions, maintain high attention to detail, and ensure accurate and consistent data collection to support engineering projects. This position is essential in providing the precise field data needed for project planning and execution.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Travel across Texas Monday through Thursday to assess and document utility poles in urban, rural, and remote areas.
- Measure utility poles, evaluate their condition, and identify potential repairs or replacements.
- Capture precise GPS coordinates and take detailed photographs for engineering assessments.
- Utilize electronic devices and software for accurate and timely data entry.
- Communicate regularly with engineering and project teams to report field progress.
- Follow all safety protocols, especially when working near roadways or in challenging outdoor environments.
- Collaborate with other field team members to ensure consistency in data collection.
- Maintain and care for assigned field equipment.
- Assist with other field-related tasks and special projects as needed.
What you will bring
- Minimum high school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience with electrical distribution design or electric utility experience is a plus.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
- Excellent attention to detail with sound problem-solving skills and desire for continuous improvement.
- Agile interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management while maintaining a harmonious working relationship with all clients and Team members.
