This project delivered a new three-phase, dual-circuit extension—integrating both overhead and underground construction—to support a growing development. The overhead segment utilized #477 ACSR for both primary and neutral, while the underground portion incorporated #1000 MCM aluminum 25 kV cable with 1/3 neutral.
The routing presented a complex sequence of regulatory challenges, including a TXDOT crossing requiring an angle exception, coordinated railroad crossings with both BNSF and UPRR, and an FAA-permitted crossing at the end of an active runway. With these constraints occurring back-to-back, the project demanded tailored engineering solutions to meet each agency’s standards while maintaining constructability and reliability. This type of complexity is where EMPACT Engineering consistently delivers.
EMPACT Engineering provided full-service support from initial design through construction. Our team completed system design and analysis, developed all project deliverables, and managed the permitting process to ensure compliance with client requirements and NESC standards. We also led project management efforts—maintaining clear communication, addressing design updates in real time, and supporting the project as it advanced into construction.
Field execution was driven by an in-house field services team that performed detailed inventory and final staking. Close coordination with field crews was maintained through dedicated meetings to align on scope, expectations, and data collection requirements. This hands-on, collaborative approach ensures accuracy in the field and establishes a strong foundation for successful project delivery.
